Thursday        June 30

Preview of Friday's racing.

Sandown 1.50

Eddie's Boy (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-brother to Masuru (LETHAL FORCE) (RPR 100) the winner of an 8f. handicap. Eddie's Boy put up his best performance (third run) when finishing third to Little Big Bear in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot.

Bellewstown 6.00

Thunderbear (KODI BEAR) - a half-brother to Dancing Feet (RPR 96) (FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND) the winner of 6 & 7f. all-weather handicaps. Thunderbear, although beaten into second by four length, showed much improved form after being slowly away, making headway and running on well.

Haydock 6.08

Violeta (KODIAC) - a half-sister to Dream Dubai (RPR 103) (KYLLACHY) second in a 6f. Group 3 at Ascot. Violeta made a nice debut when third at Thirsk earlier this month.

Haydock 7.38

Granny B (ACCLAMATION) - a half-sister to Domfront (RPR 94)(ROYAL APPLAUSE) a winning 8-10f. horse in the french provinces. Granny B didn't show a lot when 7th. of 9 on debut at Doncaster.

A busy day of juvenile racing on Thursday.

Haydock 2.30

Captain Winters (LOPE DE VEGA) - a half-brother to Cape Byron (RPR 118) (SHAMARDAL) the winner of a6f. group 3 at Ascot and yhe 6f. Wokingham Handicap also at Ascot in 2019. Captain Winters finished 4th., beaten about four lengths, on his debut, at this course, earlier this month.

Ramz (HAVANA GOLD) - a half-brother to Romeo Lima (RPR 104) (MEDAGLIA d'ORO) who, as a 2-y-o was placed in Group 3 and Listed company over 7f. in France.

Yarmouth 2.50

Princeville (EXCEED AND EXCEL) - a full-brother to Yatta (RPR 111) the winner of a Group 3 for 2-y-os over 5f. at Goodwood.

Musical Tribute (ACCLAMATION) - a full-brother to No Nonsense (RPR 102) who finished second in a 6f. Group 3 at Ascot.

Bellewstown 4.35

All Things Nice (FSS SIOUX NATION) - a half-sister to Swan Bay (RPR 102) (AUSTRALIA) who won over 10f. as a 3-y-o on this course last year. All Things Nice showed plenty of promise on her debut finishing second in a 7f. race at Limerick.

Bellewstown 6.55

Evening's Empire (FSS KESSAAR) -  a half-sister to Tempus Iggannadu (RPR 90) (HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR) who finished third in an Italian Listed event over 8f.

Full Prime (MEHMAS) - a half-sister to Lady Dancealot (RPR 99) (SIR PRANCEALOT) placed third in a 6f. Listed race at Lingfield. Full Prime showed a decent level ability on her second run when runner-up to Palm Lily over 6f. at Kempton early this month.

Statu Of Liberty (FSS WASHINGTON DC) - a half-sister to Domineer (RPR 110) (SHAMARDAL)  the winner of three 6f. handicaps in Hong Kong.

Newbury 6.28

Aberfoyle (FSS TASLEET) - a half-brother to Benny And The Jets (RPR 95) (SHOWCASING) the winner of four sprint handicaps.

Chaldean (FRANKEL) - a half-brother to  Alkumait (RPR 114) (SHOWCASING) the winner of a 2-y-o Group 2 over 6f. at Newbury.

Spirit Of Breeze (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) - A half-brother to Kings Shield (RPR 110)( SCAT DADDY) a winner at Kempton and Newcastle before going to race in Hong Kong where he won four handicaps over 8f.

Epsom 6.36

Star Player (ZOFFANY) - a half-brother to Stratum (RPR 115) (DANSILI) successful hurdler and the winner of the 2019 edition of the Cesarewitch. Star Player didn't show a lot when 7th. on debut over 7f. at Lingfield 12 days ago.

Tuesday   June 28

There are six races to ponder on Wednesday but not a lot of depth in some of them.

Thirsk 1.20

I can't find anything here.

A nice win on debut for Rock Of England (FSS UNFORTUNATELY) looked to be out paced early on but made steady progress up the stand-side from halfway and ran on strongly.

Thirsk 1.50

Star Of Midnight (CAMACHO) - an already gelded half-brother to George Bowen (RPR 111) (DARK ANGEL) the winner of nine 6f. handicaps.

Patricia Grey (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-sister to King's Gift (RPR 104) (CASAMENTO) a winner of handicaps over 7 & 10f. Patricia Grey never got into the race after being slowly away on debut at Ripon earlier this month.

Sky Dancer (FSS ZOUSTAR) - a half-sister to Stocking (RPR 92)(ACCLAMATION) a winning all-weather 5f. handicapper.

Equity's darling (EQUIANO) held on to win by half a length. I'm afraid the three mentioned above finished 11th., 12th. and 15th. of 15 and the least said the better.

Musselburgh 1.40

Georgiava (FSS HAVANA GREY) -  a half-sister to Wahoo (RPR 95) (SIMULATION) a winning handicapper over 6 & 7f. Georgiava has had three runs and showed a degree of ability in each of them.

Georgiava tried to make all up the stand rail but had to give best to Run Cmc(GUITAIFAN) inside the last 100 yds.

Tipperary 5.10

The Antarctic (DARK ANGEL) - a full brother to high-class sprinter Bataash (RPR 129). He is a long way off his illustrious sibling and his run at Ascot has to be seen as disappointing but he drops in class here.

Another rather disappointing run from The Antarctic, not the quickest awy, toward the rear, switched to the outside and finished strongly for third beaten a nose and a short-head by Wadao (SHOWCASING) and Ardad's Great (ARDAD).

Tipperary 6.10

La Dolce Vita (Caravaggio) - a half-sister to Emphatic Answer (RPR 107) (NO NAY NEVER) the runner-up in an 8f. Group 2 at the Curragh last month. La Dolce Vita has been quite highly tried in her three but has shown a fair amount of ability.

Vernet (CARAVAGGIO) - a half-sister to Arthur's Realm (RPR 94) (CAMELOT) the winner of two eight furlong handicaps. Vernet made her debut at Navan last month finishing a ten-length fourth to the smart filly Statuette.

Vernet was a non-runner. A hard fought win for La Dolce Vita having just got the better of the long-time leader half a furlong out then had to withstand the late run from the debutant Hans Andersen (FRANKEL) who ran a promising race.

Kempton 5.30

Swift Lioness (FSS ROARING LION) - a half-sister toTurf Laurel (RPR 109) (FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND) who came a close fifth in 10.5f. Group 1 at Chantilly. Swift Lioness was made 7/4 f. for her winning debut at Lingfield earlier this month.

Sentimentality (FARRH) - a full-sister to Move Swiftly (RPR 115) the winner of an 8f. Group 2 at Ascot. Sentimentality showed greenness when a well-beaten fourth at Lingfield at the end of last month.

A bunch finish with the race going to Pure Gold (GOLDEN HORN) who had the luck to have a clear run along the far rail but ran on strongly to catch Way To Amarillo (SHALAA) who had led from over a furlong out, a promising debut run for third by Zarga (CAMELOT). Swift Lioness had to settle for fourth, losing two places in the last 50 yards but only beaten a length by the winner. Sentimentality still showed signs of greenness but should come on for this.

Monday   June 27

There are five 2-y-o races tomorrow but only two of them have any interest for me.

Roscommon 5.10

Montesilvano (HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR) - a full-brother to Numerian (RPR 112) who was a close second in a 10f. Listed race at Leopardstown.

Texas Boy (FAST COMPANY) - a half-brother to Arizona Run (HURRICANE RUN) a 10-12f. winner of three races in the French provinces. Texas Boy made his debut over this course and distance last month, finishing 7th. of 15 after being slowly away and having trouble in running.

Pandora Lovegood (FAST COMPANY) was soon in the lead and nothing really got to her. Texas Gold finishing second but never looking likely to catch the winner. Montesilvano was held up, ran wide coming into the straight but was running on well late.

Chepstow 5.25

Greased Lightning (FSS LIGHTNING SPEAR) - a half-brother to Up Above (RPR 94) (BATED BREATH) the winner of a 5f. 2-y-o maiden at Navan. Ran in last season's 5f. Flying Childers at Doncaster, finishing 7th. beaten just over 3 lengths.

Greased Lightning wasn't the quickest away from the stalls but was travelling easily behind the leaders, switched to the outside and soon challenging for the lead but needed strong driving to hold off Evollicatt by a neck. Should improve on this.

Brighton 1.30 Confederation (BRAZEN BEAU) made it 7th. time lucky, making all and winning comfortably. Geling may have helped.

Hamilton 1.15 Catch The Paddy (NO NAY NEVER) the 2/9 fav. had no problem landing those odds.

Sunday   June 26

Not much of interest in Monday's 2-y-o runners. The only one being Changing Colours (DUBAWI) in the Pontefract 2.45 and as he is quite short, I'm giving it a miss.

Changing Colours sent off at !/2 but failed to justify the support only managing second place behind Shandy Star (COTAI GLORY).  Nothing particularly interesting in the other races. The Windsor 5.45 going to Swift Asset (PROFITABLE) and the Musselburgh 6.00 was won by Impulsive Reaction (FAST COMPANY).

Saturday  June 25

There are only two 2-y-o races on Sunday both at the Curragh.

Curragh 1.40

Proud And Regal (GALILEO) - a full-brother to Mekong River (RPR 110) the winner of a 10f. Group 3 at the Curragh in 2014.

Proud And Regal joined the leaders 2 out and under quite a quiet ride kept on well to win with something in hand. The second, Tiverton (FSS EXPERT EYE), made a promising debut despite running green.

Curragh 2.10

Statuette (FSS JUSTIFY) - a half-sister to Tenebrism (RPR 114) (CARAVAGGIO) who, as a 2-y-o won the Group 1 Cheveley Park over 6f. at Newmarket last season. Statuette was an impressive winner on debut over 5.5 f. at Navan last month.

Zarinsk (KODIAC) - a half-sister to Derevo (RPR 106) (DANSILI) winner of handicaps over 10 &12 furlongs. Zarinsk made all to win over 6f. here, on debut, last month.

Statuette despite looking in trouble in about 4th. place with a furlong to run, got her act together to run down the leaders and was going on well at the line. Zarinsk, slowly away and looking rather one-paced was running on well late on.

Friday      June 24

Saturday's 2-y-o racing.

Newmarket  1.00

Surprisingly, nothing in this one.

An easy win for Fairy Cross (DUBAWI) who made all and finished over 4 lengths in front of the second.

Newmarket 2.05

Lezoo (FSS ZOUSTAR) -  A half-sister to Daltrey (RPR 95) (IFFRAAJ) a moderate maiden before going to race at Jebel Ali where he won several 6f. handicaps. Lezoo won nicely on debut over Bath's 5f.

Malrescia (ACCLAMATION) -  a half-sister to Lismore (RPR 108) (ZOFFANY) a Group 3 winner over 2 miles at Sandown. Malrescia has shown lots of speed to make all and win her two latest races.

Miska (KODIAC) - a full-sister to Gifted Master (RPR 120) the winner of the 2018 running of the 6f. Stewards Cup at Goodwood. Miska made all to win narrowly at Newmarket last time.

Lezoo ran on strongly inside the final furlong to take the race from Malrescia who showed loads of speed to lead until the last half-furlong. Miska who met trouble leaving the stalls was always behind and filled last place.

Newcastle 4.03

Mystical Dreams (EXCEED AND EXCEL) - a half-sister to Copper Knight (RPR 111) (SIR PRANCEALOT) the winner of a dozen sprint handicaps, mostly at 5f.

Comfortable win for the 8/13 f. Clearpoint (ARDAD). Mystical Dreams (22/1) finished 4th beaten 5l. after being slowly away, was running on but no chance 5l. behind.

Curragh 3.05

A Group 2 with only one non-winner, that one is Borletti (KODIAC) he is available at 80/1 but he is a half-brother to Jimi Hendrix (RPR 94) (NEW BAY) a winning handicapper over 7 & 8 furlongs. Unlikely winner I would think.

Shartash (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) just caught Blackbeard (NO NAY NEVER) on the line. Borletti (150/1) certainly outran those odds. leading or disputing the lead until inside the final furlong and finished 5th. of 6 but only two lengths off the winner.

Windsor 2.15

Celtic Champion (ADAAY) -  a half-brother to Dragon Symbol (RPR 119) (CABLE BAY) who ran second in last year's Group 1 July Cup over 6f. at Newmarket.

Go Wide My Lily (SHOWCASING) - a half-sister to Arctic Sound (RPR 109) (POET"S VOICE) who was placed second in the Group 2 German 2,000 Guineas over 8f. in 2019.

Windsor 2.48

Nothing in this.

Straightforward win for 8/15 shot Miami Girl (COTAI GLORY).

Chester 1.55

Danger Alert (ARDAD) - a full-brother to Eve Lodge (RPR 101) who as a 2-y-o, last year, won a 6f. Group 3 at Kempton. Danger Alert showed up well until weakening late on at Haydock on his debut.

Majil (MEHMAS) - a half-sister to Spycatcher (RPR 111) (VADAMOS) who was placed second in a 6f. Group 2 at York last month. Majil hasn't shown a great deal of ability in her three runs to date.

Majil was a non-runner. A nice debut win for Changeofmind (FSS SIOUX NATION) just about making all and keeping on well. Danger Alert had tack trouble with the steering going awry after the bit slipped through his mouth.

Lingfield 6.45

Nothing of interest here.

An easy win for Lady Hollywood (FSS HAVANA GREY).

Doncaster 7.30

Ferrari Queen (DECORATED KNIGHT) - a half-sister to Nearly Caught (RPR 115)( NEW APPROACH) the winner of a 1m 7f Group 2 at Deauville in 2016.

Another one of those WOW! moments. Ferrari Queen, making her debut, raced just off the pace until being "given the Office" entering the final furlong where she surged away with a nice turn afoot to leave the rest 6 lengths behind at the line.

Thursday    June 23

A preview of Friday's juvenile races with a particularly interesting contest at the Curragh.

Doncaster 1.35

Sir Jock Bennett (ALMANZOR) - a half-brother to Ride Like The Wind (LOPE DE VEGA) the winner of a 7f. Group 3 at Maisons-Lafitte.

Yarmouth 2.20

Primrose Maid (FSS HARRY ANGEL) - a half-sister to Hallalulu (KYLLACHY) a useful 10f. performer successful in handicaps here before moving to France where she won a 10f. event at Chantilly.

A comfortable win for Liberation Bay )MUHAARAR). Primrose Maid (125/1) was slowly away and never showed.

Curragh 5.00

Spirit Genie (iNVINCIBLE SPIRIT) - a full-brother to Emmaus the very smart winner of a 7f. Listed race at Leicester. Spirit Genie made a very promising debut at Fairyhouse where despite being slowly away he finished second to Pearling Path who came over to run second in the Chesham at Ascot.

Yosemite Valley (SHAMARDAL) -  a half-brother to Piz Badile (ULYSSES) the winner of this year's Group 3 Ballysax over 10f. at Leopardstown.

A nice win on debut by Slan Abhaile (TERRITORIES) producing a nice turn of foot on the outside of the field to put the race to bed. Spirit Genie was a disappointing favourite finishing 7th. Yosemite Valley was reluctant to go into the stalls and then ran into traffic problems during the race but managed to run on nicely for 4th., promising.

Curragh 5.35

Calling All Angels (DARK ANGEL) - a half-sister to Duhail (LOPE DE VEGA) the winner of an 8f. Group 3 at Saint-Cloud.

Dower House (GALILEO) - a full-brother to Churchill the winner of the 2017 Irish 2,000 Guineas. Aiden's Galileo's tend not to win first time out.

Sandy Creek (FRANKEL) - a half-brother to Stone Age (GALILEO) the winner of a 10f. Group 3 at Leopardstown.

A win for the Dubawi filly Never Ending Story always in the leading bunch and pushed out to score. Sandy Creek put in a promising effort on debut, towards the rear early made headway and was running on well late to take second. The third home, Danvers Gold (GALILEO), was another who finished well. Dower House raced just off the pace but weakened inside the last furlong and finished 6th.

Newmarket 5.15

Deep Thoughts (LOPE DE VEGA) -  a half-sister to Just Fine (SEA THE STARS) a very useful 10f. handicapper.

Midday Martini (KODI BEAR) - a half-sister to Midnight Malibu (POET"S VOICE) a useful sprint handicapper. Midday Martini made her debut over 5f. at Sandown two weeks ago where she finished a very respectable 4th. beaten 2.5 lengths, running on to be nearest at the finish.

Royal Dress (NIGHT OF THUNDER) - a half-sister to Ibraz (FARHH) a useful 8f. handicapper.

Royal Charter (FSS EXPERT EYE) held up early came with a strong to catch the long-time leader Love Affairs (SHOWCASING) on the line, just behind in fourth was Royal Dress who finished well after meeting trouble in running. Deep Thoughts was a disappointing favourite and Midday Martini (weak in the market) finished in 6th. place.

Chester 6.15

Mystical Applause (ACLAIM) -  a half-brother to Rebel Streak (DARK ANGEL) a smart sprint handicapper. Mystical Applause was a narrow winner of a 6f. Novice event at Salisbury on his last run.

Queenmambo (SEA THE MOON) -  a half-sister to Azmeel (AZAMOUR) the winner of a 10f. Group 3 at Chester in 2010. Queenmambo has shown very little ability in her two runs.

Mlle. Chanel (BOBBY'S KITTEN) got up in the last stride to pip the 4/5f. Mystical Approach. Amuch improved effort by Queenmambo who finished last of four but only a length and a half off the winner.

Wednesday     June 22

A look at Thursday's races.

Newcastle 1.35

Corporate Raider (PROFITABLE) -  half-brother to Fox Power (DARK ANGEL) smart all-weather performer at around 8f. Corporate Raider has had two runs, on debut at Catterick he was tagged as an eye-catcher by the Racing Post, stepped up in class at Beverley he finished 6th. of seven but only 5 lengths behind the smart Chateau.

Megatron (FSS ZOUSTAR) - a half-brother to Tommy De Vito (DANDY MAN) a useful 6f. all-weather performer.

A narrow win for the 10/11f. Revision (ARDAD) and a very encouraging debut by Shine's Ambition (FSS KESSAAR) a 25/1 shot, who despite running green just failed to get to the winner. Corporate Raider rather disappointing back in 4th. and Megatron was never sighted.

Newcastle 3.55

Nothing for me in this.

Nottingham 1.10

Revolucion (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-brother to Rocksilla (ROCK OF GIBRALTA) a useful 6f. handicapper.

Pedro And The Bear (KODI BEAR) - a half-sister to Shobrom (ACCLAMATION) who as a 2-y-o ran second in a Musselburgh maiden before going on to become a useful 6f. performer at Doha (Qatar). Pedro And The Bear has had two runs, the second was a decent 5th over 6f. at Haydock.

A comfortable win for Wahaaj (GREGORIAN). Neither Revulcion or Pedro And The Bear featured in the race.

Newmarket 1.25

Metahorse (FSS HAVANA GREY) -  a half-brother to Hyanna (CHAMPS ELYSEES) a very useful middle-distance handicapper. Metahorse made his debut at Chester where, after being slowly away and showing greenness, finished a promising third.

Gareeb (FSS SIOUX NATION) - half-sister to Fancy Man (PRIDE OF DUBAI) a very smart 10f. horse a winner at Listed level.

Comfortable victory for Rogue Lightning (KODIAC). Metahorse finished a well-beaten second becoming unbalanced and colliding with Gareeb who finished third of the four runners.

Leicester 5.15

Nomaas (MEHMAS) - a half-brother to Indian Dandy (DANDY MAN) a useful 8f. handicapper.

Solutre (FSS HAVANA GREY) -  a half-brother to California Dysegno (FASTNET ROCK) who finished a short-head second in a 10f. Listed event at Chester. Solutre finished an encouraging close-up third on debut at Haydock earlier this month.

Despite running green this was a comfortable win for Naval Power (TEOFILO) the 8/11f. Solutre, who took second was slightly hampered when the winner hung right but it didn't affect the result. Nomaas raced prominently for a while before weakening and being eased to finish tailed-off.

Hamilton 6.30

Florida Filly (FSS SIOUX NATION) -  a half-sister to Orlaith (FASTNET ROCK) the winner of a 2-y-o Listed race over 5f. at Newbury. My little Florida Filly who Iam convinced will win a race Was unlucky in her first two runs, last time out (50/1) at Carlisle she finished a creditable if rather distant 4th., she is probably destined for nurseries.

Insolente (FSS HARRY ANGEL) - a half-sister to Take A Deep Breath (BATED BREATH) who finished second in a 2-y-o Group 3 over 7f. at Leopardstown. Insolente is becoming rather exposed but was only beaten a neck by Mersea at Carlisle last month.

Florida Filly wins at 40/1, what a little gem. No fluke, just about made all and held off the favourite's strong challenge close home. I noticed that early on in therace she was holding her head to one side, unhappy on the goodto firm?

Tuesday.  June 21

A look at Wednesday's cards, lots of races not a lot of quality.

Carlisle 1.20

River Usk (DANDY MAN) - a full-brother to River Boyne, a smart miler who won in Grade 1 company in USA. River Usk made his debut at Wetherby a fortnight ago, he raced prominently until being ridden and weakening final furlong.

Secret Guest (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-brother to Nesr Shalghoda (DUE DILIGENCE) a useful French 6-7f. performer.

Armour Propre (PROFITABLE) - a half-sister to Peak Princess (FOXWEDGE) a useful all-weather 7-8f. handicapper. Armour Propre made an encouraging debut at Salisbury when fourth to Mystical Applause beaten just over two lengths.

Washington Heights (FSS WASHINGTON DC) just held on a making practically all to hold off the strong-finishing Amour Propre. Just behind in third and making a very promising debut was Secret Guest, who had been slowly away and could well have won the thing in another 50yds.

Carlisle 1.55

Novaportion (NO NAY NEVER) - a half-brother to Off Limits (MASTERCRAFTSMAN) a Grade 1 winner over 8f. in America. Novaportion made a nice debut when third to Changing Colours at Haydock.

Tantalus (KODIAC) - a half-brother to Balty Boys (CAPE CROSS) the winner of a Haydock Group 3 over a mile. Tantalus (33/1), was slowly away and never involved on debut at York.

Wen Moon (MEHMAS) - a half-brother to Zefina (ZAMINDAR) who, as a 2-y-o, ran third in a 7f. Group 3 at Goodwood.

Tantalus was a non-runner. Hoy (FSS HAVANA GREY) was always prominent and won comfortably. Wen Moon (33/1) was a rather distant second but not a bad first effort, making headway from midfield 2 out and keeping on. Novaportion was prominent but finished a well beaten 5th.

Salisbury 1.45

Forest Demon (FSS GUSTAV KLIMT) - a half-brother to Have A Good Day (ADAAY) the winner of a Group 3 for 2-y-os over 6f. at Deauville last year.

Loyal Touch (NO NAY NEVER) -  a half-brother to Sovereign (GALILEO) the winner of the 2019 Irish Derby.

Seattle Time (TIME TEST) -  an already gelded half-brother to  Great Ambassador (EXCEED AND EXCEL) a smart 6f. performer who won a Listed race at York last year.

Just 1.75 lengths separated the first six home in this. Bajan Bandit (OASIS DREAM)  making his debut took the honours. Loyal Touch, who raced wide throughout was going on well at the death to get third. Just behind in 5th. was Seattle Time who didn't do himself any favours by missing the break. forest Demon missed the break and was always towards the rear.

Salisbury 2.45

Nothing in this.

Bath 5.30

Mintana (FSS HAVANA GREY) -  a half-sister to Kick On Kick On (SWISS SPIRIT) a very useful 5f. sprint handicapper. Mintana was very green on debut at Chepstow and finished a distant 5th of 5.

A narrow win for Sixties Chic (SIXTIES ICON) from An American In Paris (STARSPANGLEDBANNER) who made a very promising debut, slowly away and well off the pace early, started to make headway from a furlong and a half out and would have won in about two more strides. Mintana was outpaced and finished a distant fifth, making some headway late on - perhaps capable of winning a low-grade nursery?

Naas 5.10

Nothing of interest.

Kempton 6.20

Langythelegend (FSS HAWKBILL) -  a an already gelded half-brother to Philba (COCKNEY REBEL) a useful all-weather 7f. handicapper. 200/1 and tailed off last on debut at Epsom.

Munch (NEW BAY) ran on well to get up to win late on. Langythelegend (150/1) was outpaced and finished last

Kempton 6.50

Nothing in this one either.

Monday   June 20

Tuesday's 2-y-o racing looks a little more interesting.

Beverley 2.15

Crackovia (FSS CRACKSMAN) -  a half-sister to Olanthia (ZAMINDAR) a useful French 8-10f. filly. Crackovia made a strong debut when a very close third to Metal Merchant over 7f. at Chelmsford.

Granny B (ACCLAMATION) -  a half-sister to Domfront (ROYAL APPLAUSE) a useful French handicapper at around 8f. Granny B didn't show a lot when 7th. of 9 on debut at Doncaster,

Granny B was a non-runner. Crackovia, 5/4 2nd fav. , made all and won comfortably.

Newbury 6.00

A Taste Of Honey (FSS HARRY ANGEL) -  a half-sister to Thammin (DARK ANGEL) a successful Listed sprinter iat Jebel Ali. A Taste Of Honey made her debut earlier this month running a good second to Ibiza Love, who wasn't disgraced when re-appearing in the Albany at Ascot last week.

Glamorous Star (GUITAIFAN) -  a half-sister to Just Glamorous (ARCANO) the winner of a 5f. Group 3 race at Chantilly in 2016. Glamorous Star is with the same trainer as her half-brother but she was slowly away on debut at Windsor and never had the pace to get involved.

Rowdown Roza (CHARM SPIRIT) -  a half-sister to Mabait (KYLLACHY) a very smart handicapper at around 8f.

In a bunch finish Rage Of Bamby (FSS SAXON WARRIOR) prevailed by a short-head from Dandy Alys (DANDY MAN). I'm afraid the three I mentioned were never sighted, although A Taste Of Honey, reportedly, lost a shoe.

Newbury 6.35

Achillea (FRANKEL) -  half-sister to Librisa Breeze (MOUNT NELSON) the winner of the 6f. Group ! Champion Sprint at Ascot in 2017.

Lionella (FSS ROARING LION) -  a half-sister to Enzel (INTELLO) who won a 10f. 2-y-o maiden on heavy ground at Saint-Cloud in 2019.

A comfortable win for Lift Off (NEW BAY) the 2/1f. always prominent and kept on well. Achillea made a satisfactory debut, racing in a group just behind the leaders but didn't have the pace to challenge, finished fourth. Lionella (33/1) never showed.

Sunday   June 19

Monday is another quiet day for the youngsters and I can only find one of any interest.

Windsor 5.35

Chartwell House (CHURCHILL) - a half-brother to Seven Brothers (SLADE POWER) a decent handicapper who was effective over 6 & 7f.

Al Karrar (DARK ANGEL) took the lead with one to run and ran on well for a comfortable success.  Chartwell House seemed to struggle with the early pace but made ground under pressure and ran on for third. On this evidence he needs more of a test.

Saturday    June 18

Some respite on Sunday, there being only one 2-y-o race, Pontefract 3.45.

Not a great deal of depth in the race and I think I will give it a miss.

The race was won by Misty Blues (FSS EXPERT EYE0  in nice style. The third home Disputed (ZOFFANY) was behind early but was making good late headway, an extra furlong may help.

Friday    June 17

Anyone suffering from Ascot overload?

Just the SEVEN flat meetings on Saturday.

Ascot 2.30

Alfred Mullins (DUBAWI) - a half-brother to Snowfall (DEEP IMPACT) a very smart staying filly who won the Oaks, Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks. She did win as a 2-y-o over 7f. on her third run. Alfred Mullins won on his debut at Leopardstown quite impressively.

Alzahir (SEA THE STARS) -  a half-brother to Suedois (LE HAVRE) the winner of a 7f. Group 3 at Goodwood. Alzahir just failed to justify favouritism when second to Naval Power at Yarmouth.

Finn's Charm (KINGMAN) -  a half-brother to Charming Thought (OASIS DREAM) the winner of the 2014 Middle Park a Group 1 for 2-y-os over 6f. at Newmarket. After a third on debut in a hot little race at Yarmouth, Finn's Charm was given a confidence booster at Musselburgh where at 4/11 he won unchallenged.

The Foxes (CHURCHILL) -  a half-brother to Matterhorn (RAVEN"S PASS) a very smart 8-10f. all-weather performer. The Foxes made his debut at Newbury in what looked like a very competitive maiden, finishing a promising fourth.

WIPE OUT! A total wipe out. First three home were the three longest-priced. All the fancied one's ran like drains. Time will tell on the value of the form. Holloway Boy (ULYSSES) 40/1, the winner, was making his debut, quite a training achievement by his trainer, Karl Burke. I did take some pleasure from Lakota Sioux's swirling-tail-propelled third at 33/1.

Ayr 1.49

Nothing for me in this one.

Newmarket 1.32

Golden Speech (DUBAWI) -  a half-brother to Lackeen (SHAMARDAL) placed in French Listed events.

Indian Renegade (FSS SIOUX NATION) - a half-brother to Brian Epstein (DARK ANGEL) a useful 8f. handicapper. Indian Renegade made his debut at Goodwood where after being slowly away, ran green and finished 9th. of 11.

Victory Dance (DUBAWI) - a half-brother to Skitter Scatter (SCAT DADDY) as a 2-y-o the winner of Group 1, 2 and 3 races over 7f. at the Curragh.

Indian Renegade was a non-runner. A narrow victory for Victory Dance, looking in trouble entering the final furlong he found a strong run that just caught Bresson (DUBAWI) the long-time leader on the line. There was a lot to like in the debut of the third home, We Could Be Heroes (RIBCHESTER), who was always racing prominently and in contention until the last half-furlong.  Golden Speech, raced just off the pace but weakened in the final 2 furlongs.

Redcar 1.37

Optician (FSS EXPERT EYE) - half-brother to Seychelloise (PIVOTAL) a very useful sprint handicapper.

Sound Pressure (KODIAC) - a full-brother to Grizzel the winner of the 5f. Hilary Needler at Beverley as a 2-y-o.

Desert Silk (MONDIALISTE) - a half-sister to Bochart (DUBAWI) a smart sprint handicapper  winning four of them at Meydan.

A hard-earned win for Sound Pressure, who, after being prominent throughout had to battle on well to withstand the challenge of the debutant, Braveheart Boy (FSS HARRY ANGEL). Optician ran with promise to finish fourth. Desert Silk was too green to do herself justice. One to note back in fifth was Slippin Jimmy (KODI BEAR) who after giving the others a start was at the rear until making headway under just hand-riding, nurseries perhaps?

Lingfield 5.50

Saxon Scene (FSS SAXON WARRIOR) -  a - half-brother to One Hart (GUITAIFAN) a useful handicapper over 6/7f.

Star Player (ZOFFANY) -  a half-brother to Stratum (DANSILI) a very useful Irish stayer.

Chester Tonik (STARSPANGLEDBANNER) - a half-brother to Rich Coast (KING's BEST) a smart Irish 10/11f. horse who won a Listed race at Cork back in 2014.

In a driving finish Surely Not (NATIONAL DEFENSE) just got the better of Venetian (AWTAAD) the 13/8f. Saxon Scene made a reasonable debut in fourth place. Both Star Player and Chester Tonik were slowly away and never threatened to play a part.

Haydock 7.10

Chillhi (CHURCHILL) -  a half-brother to Bayleyf (KEYLEYF) a useful 2-y-o who won a 6f. nursery handicap at Goodwood in 2011.

Dornoch Castle (GLENEAGLES) -  a half-brother to Claim The Crown (ACCLAMATION) who, as a 2-y-o ran third in a Group 3 at Longchamp.

Indiana Be (FSS SIOUX NATION) - a half-brother to Anhar (KINGMAMBO) a very useful middle-distance handicapper.

Quite an impressive debut by Dornoch Castle, making all to win by three and three-quarter lengths.  Indiana Be was a disappointing 4th., beaten 12 lengths. Chillhi raced keenly and was a well-beaten 6th.

Thursday      June 16

Friday's 2-y-o racing preview.

Ascot 2.3

Ibiza Love (FSS U S NAVY FLAG) -  a half-sister to Pleasant Surprise (MASTERCRAFTSMAN) second in a group 3 12f. event at Newmarket in 2017. Ibiza Love made all to win over 6.5f. at Doncaster 12 days ago.

Lady Bullet (FSS JAMES GARFIELD) - half-sister to Ever Given (KODI BEAR) the winner of the 7f. Listed Surrey Stakes at this year's Derby meeting. Lady Bullet is the winner of both her races, on debut at Doncaster and following up at Ripon.

Mawj (EXCEED AND EXCEL) -  half-sister to Modern News (SHAMARDAL) , a very smart miler who won a Listed race at Windsor last month. Mawj produced one of those WOW! moments for me when making her debut at Newmarket, quickening really well and winning impressively by 4+ lengths, not a lot has come out of the race though.

Queen Olly (NO NAY NEVER) -  a half-sister to Schooner Ridge (SIYOUNI) a useful 6 - 7f. French handicapper. Queen Olly was a nice winner on her debut at York over 6f.

A good performance by Meditate (NO NAY NEVER) making all and keeping on strongly in the final furlong. Mawj wasn't able to reproduce that "wow" moment in this company but ran on well for second. Queen Olly finished fourth, Lady Bullet after showing plenty of early speed finished sixth. Ibiza Love, another who raced prominently, weakened into 10th. place. Ivory Madonna (DARK ANGEL), starting at 66/1, was the surprise package of the race, after being slowly away she was keeping on well at the death and almost claimed second place.

Redcar 1.20

A claiming race with not a lot of depth.

Man Made Of Smoke (HAVANA GOLD) - a half-brother to  El Bello (El Kabeir) winner of two 7f. all-weather handicaps. Man Made Of Smoke is rather exposed after three runs but did show signs of ability last time at Chepstow, after a bump at the start he got on to terms before fading to 5th. only 5 lengths of the winner.

A comfortable win for the favourite, What A Dude. Man Made Of Smoke was always struggling to go the pace finished fourth.

Down Royal 4.55

Thunderbear (KODI BEAR) -  a half-brother to Dancing Feet (FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND) the winner of three all-weather handicaps, two over 7f. and one over 6f. Thunderbear had a very unhappy experience on debut at Naas. In a race won by Little Big Bear, he got upset in the stalls and nothing went right afterwards.

An easy win for the 8/11 f. Treasure Trove (SIYOUNI) but an interesting run by Thunderbear, entering the short straight he was a fairly distant third-last but then took off with a run from just before the furlong post, carved through the field to take second place but never threatening the winner.

Down Royal 7.15

Mobilise (FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND) - full-brother to Threat who, as a 2-y-o, won a  7f.  Group 2 at Doncaster.

Distillate (FSS HAVANA GREY) -  Half-sister to Deputise (KODIAC) quite a smart sprinter. Distillate has shown some ability in her two runs and could well be an improver.

Goa Gajah (BAL A BALI) one of the reserves was sent off the 85/40f.  made all and won comfortably. Mobilise got upset in the stalls and was never a factor. Distillate raced prominently until weakening approaching the final furlong.

Newmarket 5.54

Killybegs Warrior (FSS SAXON WARRIOR) - a half-brother to Ventura Knight (CASAMENTO) a smart handicapper at around a mile.

An encouring debut win for Killybegs Warrior, soon disputing the lead with the 2/9f. Self Praise he ran on strongly to win by a length and a half.

Goodwood 5.25

Beautiful Sunrise (EXCEED AND EXCEL) - a half-brother to Last Crusader (OASIS DREAM) the winner of a 5f. Listed race at Last month's Dante Meeting. Beautiful Sunrise has finished second in both his races but beaten 7 lengths in the latest (by Walbank) and 5 lengths on debut.

Dance Ahead (Caravaggio) -  a half-brother to Nazuna (KODIAC) placed in an 8.5f. Group 3 at Epsom. Dance Ahead finished last of four on debut at Kempton back in April.

Trillium (NO NAY NEVER) - a half-sister to Mohawk King (SIYOUNI) second in a Listed 6f. race at Santa Anita last year.

Well, four runners, I mention three and still miss the winner -hmmmmm. The race was won by Galeron (CAMACHO)  with Trilliom in second place making an encouraging debut. I'll leave it at that.

Wednesday    June 15

A look at Thursday's cards.

Ascot  2.30

Brave Nation (FSS SIOUX NATION) - a half-brother to You Again (TORONADO)  a useful sprint handicapper. Brave Nation won by 5 lengths, unchallenged on debut at Doncaster but I am not convinced on the strength of that form.

Jungle Fever ( BUNGLE INTHEJUNGLE) - a full-brother to Winter Power, the winner of last year's Group 1 Nunthorpe over 5f. at York. Jungle Fever rather struggled home to win a minor event at Brighton last time. That doesn't look good enough here.

The Antarctic (DARK ANGEL) - a full-brother to Battaash, a very high-class sprinter. The Antarctic has won both his races but the horses he beat haven't really franked the form with only the one winner emerging.

What can be said about this shambles, if you haven't seen it already I suggest you watch a replay, free on the Sporting Life site. The winner, The Ridler, swerved left late on and ruined the chances of three or four horses but the stewards allowed the result to stand. Brave Nation was the worst sufferer, in my opinion, not sure his strong late run would have won the race but he wouldn't have been far away. Jungle Fever (125/1) showed early speed but soon dropped out to finish last. The Antarctic was very disappointing, as yet he is a lot slower than his brother, finished 7th.

Chelmsford 1.30

True Statesman (CHURCHILL) - a half-brother to a useful 8f. handicapper. In his two races to date, both over 5f., True Statesman has given the impression he needs further. He gets that extra furlong in this.

True Statesman, despite signs of greenness, had to be ridden won comfortably enough in the end. There was a lot to like about Ana Hadi's (EQUIANO) debut, behind early made steady headway in the straight to finish second.

Ripon 2.15

Gethiptothetrip (FSS TASLEET) - a half-brother to Timothy T (PASTORAL PURSUITS) who, as a 2-y-o was placed in a 7f. Group 3 at York. Gethiptothetrip was a rather distant staying-on fourth on debut at Carlisle.

Patricia Grey (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-sister to King's Gift (CASAMENTO) , a very useful 7-10f. handicapper.

Grey Force One (LETHAL FORCE) a 50/1 shot just got the better of the 5/6 fav. Dare To Dream. Patricia Grey and Gethiptothetrip never showed.

Lingfield 5.20

Nibras Rainbow (FSS U S NAVY FLAG) -  a half-brother to Rainbow Royal (PACO BOY) , the winner of a Italian 2-y-o Group 2 over a mile. Nibras Royal was a five lengths third on debut over this course and distance last time.

Showdance (SHOWCASING) - a full-brother to Sweet Gardenia, who, as a 2-y-o won a 7f. listed race at Tipperary. Showdance finished 7th of 8 in the same race as Nibras Rainbow above.

Romantic Sunlight (FSS TASLEET) - a half-sister to Romantic Time (TIME TEST) the winner of a 2-y-o 6f. Group 3 at Salisbury last year. Romantic Sunlight has shown very little in her two outings.

A nice debut win for Kinta (FSS SIOUX NATION)  the well-supported 5/4f. wasn't the smartest away from the stalls but travelled well on the outside of the field and quickening when asked. Showdance was quite free and led early, still with a chance approaching final furlong but weakened rather rapidly. Nibras Rainbow and Romantic Sunlight were always struggling to go the pace.

Leopardstown 5.15

Mrs Marion (PROFITABLE) - A half-sister to  Borossa Red (TAMAYUZ) a useful 8f. handicapper.

A comfortable win for With Love (TERRITORIES). Mrs. Marion was never better than mid0field eased and finished last.

Tuesday     June 14

An early look at Wednesday's races.

Ascot 2.30

A large and very competitive race, as always, so as in Tuesday's Coventry I'll be putting four up. Just to remind you these are not based on form but on the breeding.Good luck - I'll need it.

Katey Kontent (FSS HAVANA GREY) - the winner of both her races, is a half-sister to El Caballo (HAVANA GOLD) the winner of the 6f. Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock last month.

Lost Angel ( DARK ANGEL) - a full-sister to San Andreas, who was beaten a nose into second place in the All-Weather Championship Mile at Newcastle in April. Lost Angel did well in her first two races, winning at the second attempt but when stepped up in class at York she was found out. She's available at 80/1 at the moment.

Love Reigns (FSS U S NAVY FLAG) - a half-sister to Glorious Empire (HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR) an American Grade 1 winner, who won over distances from 6-12f. She made a very impressive debut at Keeneland, making all and winning easily by just shy of 10 lengths.

Omniqueen (FSS TASLEET) - a half-sister to A Momentofmadness (ELNADIM), a smart sprint handicapper who won the Portland over 5.5f. at Doncaster. On her debut at Ascot last month she made all to win comfortably.

Dramatised (SHOWCASING)  5/2f. won convincingly, racing prominently and finding plenty to win by a length and a quarter. Love Reigns ran well, leading down the centre but could go with the winner, finish 4th. beaten 3 lengths.  Katey Kontent, probably a touch too keen raced prominently in the centre, finished 6th. Omniqueen (66/1) lost her chance when stumbling early on. Lost Angel (100/1) always towards the rear.

Ascot 5.35

Another cavalry charge.

Chateau (HAVANA GOLD) - a half-brother to King Carney (AUSTRALIA) a Listed winner over a mile and a useful handicapper.

Democracy Dilemma (COTAI GLORY) - a half-brother to the smart sprinter Angel Alexander (DARK ANGEL). Democracy Dilemma was impressive in his penultimate run, making all to win at Chester's May meeting but raced too freely in the National Stakes at Sandown last time. A 50/1 shot.

Eddie's Boy (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-brother to Masaru (LETHAL FORCE) a smart 8f. handicapper. Eddie's Boy won nicely on debut but I was disappointed when he had to settle for second to Remarkable Force at Musselburgh.

Ramazan ( KODIAC) - a half-brother to Spinning Memories (ARCANO) the winner of a 6f. Group 3 at Deauville. Ramazan stepped up on his debut 4th of 4 at Pontefract when winning at Beverley on his second try, in the process finishing in front of Sanks A Million who franked the form when winning at Chester at the weekend.

There wouldn't have been a lot left in the bookies' satchels after Little Big Bear's (NO NAY NEVER) win. The very-heavily-backed 6/5 favourite had been given a very high rating, a rating that I thought wasn't justified, they, and the horse, proved me wrong (it won't be the last time). From the TV pictures from the parade ring and the start the colt certainly looked the part , athletic with plenty of scope and will no doubt be even better over a longer trip. He won well enough but he had to fend off a very strong challenge from Rocket Rodney (DANDY MAN).  Eddie's Boy was just over a length back in third with Chateau a further length back in fourth. Ramazan (80/1) never showed, Democracy Dilemma (150/1) was prominent early but finished towards the rear.

Hamilton 2.20

Not For Profit (PROFITABLE) - a half-brother to Bellosa (AWTAAD) the winner of a 7f. listed race at Newmarket last year. Not For Profit didn't  have the best of luck on debut at Yarmouth, after being too keen early, he ran into traffic problems, finished 6th. of 6 but only beaten four lengths.

A win for Not For Profit who made all and kept on when ridden final furlong.

Hamilton 2.55

Struggling a bit with this one but -

Monte Forte (Cotai Glory) - a half-brother to Betty's Hope (ANJAAL), who, as a 2-y-o won a valuable Weatherby's Super Sprint over 5f. at Newbury in 2019. Monte Forte finished second on his debut at Carlisle despite looking pretty green.

The winner was Mas Rapido (FSS MASSAAT).  The stewards looked into the run of Monte Forte, drifted from 7/2 to 6/1, was leading in the race until weakening quickly over 1 out. Stable could offer no explanation but the horse was found to have lost a shoe.

Ripon 6.00

Boom Boom Pow (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-sister to Speed Vision (HELMET) a five-time winner over 6f. in Hong Kong.the filly was well supported on debut at Windsor but she had to settle for second place behind Tagline

Dragon Glory (COTAI GLORY) - a half-sister to Shepherds Way (DARK ANGEL) who finished second in a 6f. Listed event at Pontefract. Dragon Glory has had two runs, I was rather disappointed with his second effort after what had looked a promising debut.

Kodi Dancer (KODIAC) - a full-sister to La Pulga a useful 7/8f. handicapper. Kodi Dancer hasn't set the world on fire in her two runs, in fact she has yet to finish in front of another runner.

A win for California Gem (CABLE BAY).  Boom Boom Pow, 11/8f. had to settle for second, never looking like getting to the winner. Dragon Glory led until weakening and becoming unbalanced a furlong out, finishing 7th. Kodiac Dancer was a non-runner.

Monday June 13

Tuesday sees the first day of Royal Ascot and the always competitive Coventry is race for 2-y-o enthusiasts. I'm still approaching it from the breeding angle so There are are few left-field choices and I'm giving myself four tries to hit the bull.

Ascot 3.10

Persian Force (MEHMAS) - a full-brother to Gubbass, a smart 2-y-o last season who placed in a Group 3 at Goodwood. Persian Force is unbeaten in two runs and has been impressive. Undoubtedly has the best form of the ones I'm flagging up.

Rousing Encore (ACCLAMATION) - a half-brother to Majestic Dawn (DAWN APPROACH) the winner of a 10f. Listed race at Goodwood last month. Rousing Encore showed improved form when scooting clear of Breege at Pontefract over 6f.

Show Respect (SHOWCASING) - Half-brother to Doctor Geoff (FAST COMPANY) the winner of a 7f. Listed race at Naas before going to race in Hong Kong, where he won three 9f. handicaps at Happy Valley. Show Respect came on for his promising debut at Goodwood, to win in good style at Leicester. Needs to improve again to be involved here.

Ti Sento (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) - a half-brother to Stake Acclaim (ACCLAMATION) a very smart sprint handicapper. Ti Sento, I think it can be said, created a bit of a surprise when showing a great deal of improvement on his debut when winning at Listowel at 100/1. It was quite a convincing victory but as nothing has come out of the race and run there is no way of knowing the value of it, I think it is fair to say that it won't be that strong. An unlikely winner but he was last time too.

Bradsell (FSS TASLEET) proved that his 9-length win on debut at York was no fluke. Always travelling well on the outside of the field he kept on well for pressure to win by a length and a half. Persian Force the 3/1 2nd. fav. , who finished second, was going on well at the death but could never get to the winner. Rousing Encore showed up well for a long way but wasn't good enough, finishing 6th. beaten 5 lengths. Show Respect never featured. Ti Sento after being prominent early dropped right away to finish 16th.

Thirsk 1.45

Mazyuna (FSS SIOUX NATION) - a half-sister to Calvinist (HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR) a useful staying handicapper/hurdler. Mazyuna did well on her debut, she dwelt at the start but ran on strongly to claim second place on the line..

Unforgettable Move (DUBAWI) - the first foal from Unforgettable Filly the impressive winner of an 8f. Listed race at Haydock.

Violeta (KODIAC) - a half-sister to Dream Dubai (KYLLACHY) second in a 6f. Group 3 at Ascot.

A very impressive debut by Glenlaurel (LOPE DE VEGA). She could be called the winner from a long way out, even at the rear of the field she was travelling very easily, made smooth headway and won easily by 3+ lengths. Mazyuna was a very disappointing 11/8f., Unforgettable Move made some late headway but could do no better than 6th. place. Violeta (50/1) did alright on debut, finishing third despite greenness.

Beverley 5.10

Highfield Viking (ACLAIM) - a half-brother to Highfield Princess (NIGHT OF THUNDER) a very smart sprinter, who, even at the age of five, still seems o be improving, last time out winning a 6f. Group 2 at York's May meeting.

Dear My Friend (PIVOTAL) (6/5) made favourite backers happy by making all and winning unchallenged. Highfield Viking was never sighted (I see the vet reported that the horse had cut his nose somehow).

Brighton 5.50

Nothing here for me.

No world-beaters on show here, I'm afraid. In a messy three-horse finish that got very tight on the rails X J Rascal (KODIAC), on debut and under a very vigorous ride, prevailed from the 4/5 fav. Al Khazneh.

Sunday  June 12

Catching up after Friday's glitch - a look at Monday's juvenile offerings - a touch of the drought before the monsoon but that's the way of it.

Lingfield 1.30

Green Zabeel (OASIS DREAM) - a half-sister to Yellow And Green (MONSUN) the winner of a 12f. Group 2 at Saint-Cloud back in 2012. She was last of six on debut at Ayr.

Regal Glory (COTAI GLORY) - half-sister to Worlds His Oyster (PIVOTAL) a useful 8f. handicapper.

Green Zabeel and Regal Glory never got into the race. The winner, Mai Alward, was another HAVANA GREY filly, he has done very well with his little girls,  she was always prominent, led 1 out and ran on well.

Lingfield 2.30

Queenmambo (Sea The Moon) - half-sister to Azmeel (AZAMOUR) a smart 10f. Group 3 winner. Last of 10 on her debut at Redcar.

Swift Lioness (FSS ROARING LION) -  a half-sister to Turf Laurel (FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND) a smart maiden who as a 2-y-o ran second in an 8f. Group 3 at Deauville.

Queenmambo (200/1) showed very little ability.  Swift Lioness won on debut but had to work quite hard for it, under pressure from some way out and running on to get up inside the final furlong. Eye-catching debut by the horse who finished third, Butterfly Effect (FSS JAMES GARFIELD)  lost quite a bit of ground when slowly away, at rear with two to run but a powerful late run took her to within a length and a quarter of the winner.

Carlisle 1.45

Claretina (FSS TASLEET) - a half-sister to Meliora (STARSPANGLEDBANNER) the winner of a 10f. Listed race at Fontainbleu. Clarentino made a promising debut when third to Edgar Linton at Redcar eleven days ago.

A hard-earned win for Claretina just getting home in a finish with six horses covered by three lengths. In an untidy race, quite rough at times, there were a number of hard luck stories in behind but I don't think it was that strong a race.

Nottingham 5.15

Aira Force (OASIS DREAM) - a half-sister to Raasel (SHOWCASING) a very smart sprinter who won a 5f. Listed event at Haydock at the end of last month.

Miska (KODIAC) - full-sister to Gifted Master a very smart 6f. handicapper who won the 2018 running of the Goodwood Stewards Cup. Miska made a satisfactory debut even beaten 6.5 lengths into second place by the enigmatic, but probably smart, Lakota Sioux.

Ravigill (SHOWCASING) -  half-sister to Ziggle Pops (ZOFFANY) a useful 7f. handicapper.

Miska made all to win but was all out at the line to hold on by a neck. Aira Force raced keenly until weakening over a furlong out. Ravigill was always toward the rear.

Windsor 5.40

Mister X (PROFITABLE) - a half-brother to Capote"s Dream (DREAM AHEAD) a useful 6f. handicapper. Mister X made his debut at this course over six furlongs last month but was slowly away and never got involved.

Mister X missed the break again and never figured. The race went to Terrimia (TERRITORIES) she took the lead about half a furlong out and kept on.

Sunday       June 12

Today's 2-y-o racing, not a great deal of it but there some interesting runners.

Gowran 1.20

Sierra Blanca (NO NAY NEVER) - a half-brother to three black-type horses including Somehow (FASTNET ROCK) the winner of a Group 2 9f. eveny at Newmarket. Sierra Blanca was well beaten by Persian Force and Holguin when sent on a scouting mission to Newbury by A.P. O'Brien.

La Dolce Vita (Caravaggio) - a half-sister to Emphatic Answer (NO NAY NEVER) who was beaten a neck in an 8f. Group 2 at the Curragh last month. La Dolce Vita has run twice, an encouraging debut when third at Naas but on her reappearance, again at Naas, spoilt her chance by missing the break.

Zoinnocent (Zoffany) - a full-sister to Hannibal Barca who, as a 2-y-o, was placed 4th. in last year's 8f. Group 1 Futurity at Doncaster and last month won a 10f. Group 3 at the Curragh. Zoinnocent had a gentle introduction to racing when finishing a five-length 6th. under a quiet ride at the Curragh last month.

Sierra Blanca, the 11/8 f., raced prominently until being outpaced and fading to finish sixth. La Dolce Vita also raced prominentl but couldn't respond when the winner Zoinnocent quickened inside the final furlong.

Doncaster 2.12

Kingdom Of Dreams (OASIS DREAM) - a half-brother to Bow Creek (SHAMARDAL) the winner of a Group 2 over a mile at Leopardstown in 2014. Kingdom Of Dreams has had a run of sorts but appeared to be pretty green at Newmarket, where he blew the start and fininished last of six beaten 20 lengths.

Maxi King (BELARDO) - a half-brother to Minzaal (MEHMAS) who, as a 2-y-o, won the Group 2 Gimcrack over 6f. at York. Maxi King made a promising debut when second at Nottingham but things didn't go his way on his second run, at Haydock, being slowly away and then edging left when making headway and having to settle for fourth place.

Modern Dancer (KINGMAN) - a half-brother to Ultra (MANDURO) who as a 2-y-o won an 8f. Group 1 at Longchamps and was precoucious enough to win on his 2-y-o debut.

Kingdom Of Dreams( 33/1) put in a much improved performance, racing prominently and having every chance approaching the final furlong but being edged out of the frame close home, finishing 5th., a length and a half behind the winner. Maxi King ran much the same sort of race as Kingdom Of Dreams and finished just a nose in front of him. Modern Dancer was keen, he raced prominently, led one out and kept on to win with a bit in hand. Nice debuts by the second and third, Hope You Can Run (LOPE DE VEGA) and Endeared (DARK ANGEL), the latter doing a tour of town moor in the process.

Salisbury 3.15

Havana Blue (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-brother to Ehraz (SHOWCASING) who was beaten a short-head in a 6f. Listed race at Newbury last month.

Apache Spark (FSS SIOUX NATION) - a half-sister to Shelly Banks (FAST COMPANY), a useful Irish sprint handicapper.

Minnetonka (KINGMAN) was a very impressive winner, made just about all, quickening approaching the final furlong and pulling away to win, unchallehged, by seven lengths. A length covered the next five home, Havana Blue and Apache Spark were both in that group.

Saturday   June 11

Note to self, do not fiddle with computer settings. I did yesterday and lost access to the site that allows me to update the blog. Hence no post yesterday. Back now, so Saturday's 2-y-o races, late but, hopefully, better than never.

Bath 1.50

Spiritual Love (STARSPANGLEDBANNER) - a half-sister to Roman Dynasty (MEHMAS) a winner on his 2-y-o debut and a useful juvenile who was thought good enough to run in the Group 2 Gimcrack at York. Well behind on debut at Nottingham.

Lazoo (FSS ZOUSTAR) - half-sister to Daltrey (IFFRAAJ) , a rather moderate maiden for Gosden when racing here but became a useful 6f. handicapper, winner of two races, when running at Jebel Ali.

Profitable Edge (PROFITABLE) - half-sister to Astro Jakk (ZOFFANY) a useful all-weather sprint handicapper. Profitable Edge is trained in Ireland and has already had three runs, the best of those last time when a close-up third at Tipperary at the end of May.

Spiritual Love became quite a steamer being backed into 9/1 from an early 40/1, could do no better than sixth place. Lezoo (I blame my eyesight for spelling that one wrong) found a nice turn of foot inside the final to go clear and win with a bit in hand from the long-time leader Cuban Mistress (FSS HAVANA GREY). Profitable Edge never looked like making the trip from Ireland worthwhile despite going off the 2/1 fav.

Chester 1.35

Metahorse (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-brother to Hyanna (CHAMPS ELYSEES) a smart middle-distance handicapper.

Rock Opera (FSS UNFORTUNATELY) - a half-brother to Majestic Gold (LETHAL FORCE)  a useful handicapper who won over 6 & 7 furlongs. Rock Opera has had two runs, a close fourth at Beverley on debut followed by a comfortable win over Hamilton's stiff five furlongs.

Metahorse ran really well on debut, not the quickest away from the stalls and despite showing some greenness kept on well to just get third on the line. Rock Opera raced prominently but could never get the better of the winner Sanks A Million (PROFITABLE) and was beaten half-a-length into second.

York 4.15

Common Acclaim (ACCLAMATION) -  half- brother to Albishr (CLODOVIL) beaten a nose in an 8f. Listed race at Salisbury and was precocious enough to win on his 2-y-o debut. Common Acclaim showed little on his debut at Ripon, swerving right on leaving the stalls and then running into traffic.

Apparently unfancied and allowed to gof at ££/1 ran a decent enough race finishing just over 3 lengths behind the winner in 5th. place, outpaced halfway but running on late. Cold Case (SHOWCASING) landed the 10.11 odds without too much trouble.

Limerick 2.05

All Things Nice (FSS SIOUX NATION) - a half-sister to Swan Bay (AUSTRALIA) a useful 10f. horse for Joseph O'Brien who also has All Things Nice.

All Things Nice the 85/40 fav. had to settle for second place not having the pace to get to the winner Kayhanna (HARZAND).

Leicester 5.45

I can find nothing of interest in this one.

A nice winning debut by Lion Of War (FSS ROARING LION) travelling on the outside of the field moved into the lead over a furlong out and ran on strongly.

All in all a pretty mediocre day for juvenile racing.

Thursday June 9

On to Friday's juvenile races - not a lot of quality to my eye.

Chepstow 2.10

Junaid (IFFRAAJ) - a half-brother to Lawful Command (CHURCHILL) a useful 7-8 furlong handicapper.

Man Made Of Smoke (HAVANA GOLD) - an already gelded half-brother to El Bello (EL KABeir) a winner of two Class 5 handicaps over 7f. on artificial surfaces.

Junaid was slowly away and finished last, Man Made Of Smoke was always struggling after receiving a bump on leaving the sralls. Gulmarg (DANDY MAN) the 11/8f. won the race.

Sandown 1.10

Midday Martini (KODI BEAR) - a half-sister to Midnight Malibu (POET'S VOICE) the winner of eleven 5f. races (mostly handicaps).

Time Off (FSS EXPERT EYE) - a half-sister to Queen Of Desire (DUBAWI) the winner of a 5f. Listed race at Bath.

Midday Martini made a satisfactory debut, behind early but maling ground on the rails late on. Time Off wasn't the sharpest away from the stalls and then raced to freely, from just over a furlong she went from disputing the lead back to last place. The winner was the 66/1 complete outsider Conquest Of Power (CITYSCAPE). The second Safari Dream (BUNGLE INTHEJUNGLE) after losing quite a bit of ground at the stalls was switched to the rails making smooth headway and making a strong challenge inside the final furlong but couldn't get to the winner - a nice run.

Sandown 1.45

Just Bring It (FSS HARRY ANGEL) - a half-brother to Viareggio (CARAVAGGIO) who ran third in a 10f. Listed race at Goodwood last month.

Just Bring It finished just under 6 lengths behind the winner in fifth but never looked like getting involved in the finish. The winner Dance In The Grass (FSS CRACKSMAN) made winning debut in very nice style, holding off the strong-finishing odds-on favourite, One Nation. For A Laugh (AUSTRALIA) was another finishing well.

York 2.30

A quite valuable seller with a lot of the runners being quite exposed. Not really of interest for my approach.

Explicit (FSS EXPERT EYE) ranout a very convincing winner, just about making all and winning unchallenged.

York 4.40

Nashur (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-sister to Menai Bridge (CABLE BAY) a useful 8- 10 furlong filly who has won five handicaps, the latest at Lingfield in February. Nashur made her debut over 6f. at Redcar 11 days ago and where she ran well to finish a length and a half second to Miss Brazen.

Nashur looked on the small side but did alright, having every chance from 2 out but couldn't find anything extra and finished a three-length third to Mersea (BORN TO SEA).

Fairyhouse 4.45

Experience tells me that big field maidens in Ireland are not my strong point and to be honest there doesn't look to be a great deal of quality in this field but I can but try.

Reinforce (FSS TASLEET) - a half-brother to Raatea (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) a useful 6-7f. handicapper. Reinforce will no doubt come on for his debut at the Curragh over 6f. where he raced prominently until finishing mid-field.

Midnight Duke (COTAI GLORY) - an already gelded half-brother to High Time Too (HIGH CHAPARRAL) the winner of three all-weather Class 4-5 handicaps over a mile. Midnight Duke had only one behind him on his debut at Cork 35 days ago.

The least said about Midnight Duke the better (last beaten 21 lengths). Reinforce did improve for the run finishing third but never able to threaten the first two. Apache Outlaw (CHURCHILL) the 5/6f. getting the better of the 150/1 shot, Palace Garden (GUITAIFAN).

Goodwood 5.15

Lady D'Ascoyne (SHOWCASING) - a half-sister to Percy's Lad (SIR PERCY), a useful handicapper at around a mile.

Rage Of Bamby (FSS SAXON WARRIOR) - a half-sister to Amalaura (RAVEN'S PASS) the winner of two Listed races in Italy, one over 7 and one over 8f.

Enola Grey (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-sister to Carolus Magnus (HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR), a useful handicapper at around a mile.

Rage f Bamby was a non-runner. Enola Grey did wll to finish third, completely missed the break and trailed the field early, was making good headway when denied a clear run. Lady D' Ascoyne was another to make a decent debut, prominent and keeping on well for fourth. Bet Me (MASTERCRAFTSMAN) won the race in good style clearing away by four lengths inside the final furlong.

Wednesday  June 8

The 2-y-o races to be run on Thursday look to be of better quality than those of the last couple of days.

Newbury 2.10

John Chard VC (ARDAD) - a half-brother to Love Interest (TIME TEST) who ran third in a Listed 8f. contest at York last month. John Chard VC made a very nice debut over this course and when a running-on close second to Sydneyarms Chelsea.

Mysterious Night (DARK ANGEL) - a full-brother to Althiqa who was placed in a Group 3 7f. race at Goodwood and then travelling to America where she won two Grade 1 events, one over 8f. and one over 9f. On his debut at Newbury 6f. last month he was beaten the minimum distance by Dark Thirty in a race that is beginning to look strong.

Nottingham 2.00

Dream For Gold (FSS U S NAVY FLAG) - a half-brother to Maraseem (NATHANIEL) who ran third in a German 10f. Group 3.

Mutaany (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) - a half-brother to Massaat (TEOFILO) the winner of a Group 2 7f. race at Newbury in 2017.

Think Climate (EXCEED AND EXCEL) - a full-brother to James Garfield who ran second in a Group 1 6.5f. race at Deauville.

Haydock 5.25

Madam Macho (CAMACHO) - a half-sister to Cappella Sansevero (SHOWCASING) placed in Group 1 company and a winner of a Group 3 at the Curragh, all over 6f. Madam Macho was last of four on her debut at Windsor.

Pedro And The Bear (Kodi Bear) - Half-sister to Shobrom (ACCLAMATION), a useful sprinter who has raced in Doha (Qatar) of late. Pedro And The Bear showed little sign of ability on debut at Ripon.

Haydock 6.25

Queen Of Deauville (SHOWCASING) - a comfortable winner of her only start, is a half-sister to Dutch Treat (DUTCH ART) a useful 7f. handicapper.

Tuesday  June 7

I'm a bit behind today just back from my fifth Covid vaccination - hopefully no side effects.

A look at Wednesday's 2-y-o fare.

Haydock 2.20

Captain Winters (LOPE DE VEGA) - a half-brother to Cape Byron (SHAMARDAL) winner of a Group 3 and the Wokingham Handicap both over 6f. in 2019.

Gifted Angel (DARK ANGEL) - half-brother to Inverleigh (EXCELEBRATION) the winner of a 5.5f. Listed race at Navan.

Novaportian (NO NAY NEVER) - half-brother to Off Limits (MASTERCRAFTSMAN) the winner of a listed 8.5f. race at Killarney before gointo race in America where she won a Grade 1 mile race at Del Mar on turf.

A convincing win for the Dubawi colt, Changing Colours. Novaportion (3rd) and Captain Winters (4th.) made satisfactory debuts and Gifted Angel (5th.) improved on on his second outing.

Haydock 2.55

Lots of runners from top yards involved here but none of them have mares that have produced anything of great ability. So I'm highlighting two who are likely to be outsiders.

Leap Year Lad (FSS HAVANA GREY) - half-brother to a useful winner of two races 7-8f.

Solutre (FSS HAVANA GREY) - half-brother to California Designo (FASTNET ROCK) who placed in Group 3 and Listed company over middle distances.

One World (SEA THE STARS) prevailed by a nose in a final furlong duel with Courageous Knight (DUBAWI) with Solutre just a further half-length behind, an encouraging effort. Leap Year Lad missed the break and finished a distant 6th.

Yarmouth 1.53

Agostino (FSS HARRY ANGEL) - out of a mare who produced loads of winners the best of them Mazzini (EXCEED AND EXCEL) a very smart performer over 6 & 7 furlongs. Agostino in his two races has given the impression that he is a short-runner, on both occasions racing freely until weakening final furlong, perhaps Ms. Turner will ride him with a little more restraint this time.

Eternal Life (KODIAC) - a full-brother to Boogie Time, a useful sprint handicapper.

I'm afraid Agostino didn't dispel the notion that he is a short-runner, he showed plenty of speed to take the field along but when pressure was applied approaching the final furlong he found little. Far Shot (KODIAC) the 1/2 Fav. held off the strong challenge of another debutant, Harry Brown (FSS HARRY ANGEL), who wasn't the swiftest away from the stalls and can probably be marked up for this. Eternal Life, was green, missed the break and ran too freely finished a rather distant fourth.

Cork 5.05

Fendi (HOT STREAK) - has shown very little in his two runs but is a half-sister to Total Gallery (NAMID) the winner of the 2009 running of the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbey.

Finsceal Go Deo (KINGMAN) - a half-sister to Ol' Man River (MONTJEU) who as a 2-y-o won the Group 2 Beresford over a mile at the Curragh in 2014. This filly made a nice debut at the Curragh back in March but didn't show a lot on her return, after a break, last time back at the Curragh.

Silmaniya (FSS Expert Eye) - half-sister to Sonaiyla (DARK ANGEL) placed in a Group 1, winner of a Group 3 and a smart handicapper, suited by 5,6 &7 furlongs. After being slowly away this filly did well to claim third place on debut at Navan.

Fendi raced prominently but faded from 2 out, Finseal Go Deo was rather disappointing again, Silmaniya did herself no favours when ducking right on leaving the stalls but she was there with a chance a furlong out until the winner Badb (FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND) went clear to win convincingly.

Hamilton 6.20

Favourite Queen (FSS MASSAAT) - a half-sister to Deauville Shower (HIGH CHAPARRAL)  a useful French 10f horse. She is becoming rater exposed and was disappointing last time up.

Georgiava (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-sister to Wahoo (STIMULATION) a useful 6-7f. handicapper who won four races. Georgiava has run two creditable races the second just six days ago when fifth beaten 3.5 lengths by Edgar Linton.

A comfortable victory for Yahtzee (GREGORIAN) the 2/1 fav., always travelling well on the outside of this small field she quickened nicely when asked and won by a comfortable length and a half from, Georgiava who ran an honest enough race but just wasn't good enough. Favourite Queen made much of the running on the rail but weakened into fourth and last when the winner went past.

Monday  June  6

Four juvenile races due on Tuesday here's my suggestions:

Brighton 1.30

Continuation (FSS JAMES GARFIELD) - not a lot here from the sire angle but this colt is a half-brother to Beau Warrior (DECLARATION OF WAR) the winner of three races at Dundalk, one over 6f. and two over 7f.

Poor visibility so except to say Continuation finished fourth on debut.

Salisbury 1.45

Mystical Applause (ACLAIM) - a half-brother to Rebel Streak (DARK ANGEL) who was good enough to run third in a Group £ 5f. race at Newbury as a 3-y-o in 2018. Mystical Approach made his debut over 6f. at Leicester 15 days ago, showed some promise in finishing fourth keeping on late.

Big R (COTAI GLORY) - half-brother to Wild Place (MEHMAS) the winner of a 6f. turf Conditions race at Meydan.

Armour Propre (PROFITABLE) - half-sister to Peak Princess (FOXWEDGE) a useful 7-8f. handicapper.

Mystical Applause did win but only just, didn't look like the winner a furlong out but found a bit when switched then had to hold the late challenge of Zabbie (FSS POET'S WORD). Armour Propre ran well, prominent until waeking into fourth close home. Big R looks as if he lives up to his name, quite a unit, I would think he will need a bit of time.

Chelmsford 5.00

Prince Nabeel (FSS SMOOTH DADDY) - he stumbled in running when fourth on debut at Ripon, he is a half-brother to Felix (LOPE DE VEGA) a smart all-weather performer who ran second in a Group 3 over 10f.

Tribal Master (MASTERCRAFTSMAN) - a full-brother to Tribal Craft, a smart stayer who won a Group 3 and was placed in a Group 2. She didn't race as a 2-y-o.

Crackovia (FSS CRACKSMAN) - a half-sister to Olanthia (ZAMINDAR) a useful French 8-10f. horse.

Prince Nabeel tried to make all but was caught close home by Metal Merchant (MAKE BELIEVE) who won by a head, a further short-head behind was Crackovia, who made a very pleasing debut.

Wetherby 5.15

I can find only one that may be of interest.

River Usk (DANDY MAN) - a full-brother to River Boyne, a maiden after three races as a 2-y-o in this country went to be trained in America and developed into a smart miler on turf winning a Grade 1 at Santa Anita in 2020, now at stud.

River Usk raced prominently until weakening over 2 out, finishing in 8th. place. The race was won by the favourite, Just Janet (FSS ZOUSTAR) who made all but had to resist the late challenge of Lola's Moment (ARDAD) and Galaxy Gazer (IFFRAAJ). I don't think we saw any future stars here.

Sunday   June  5

Preview of the three 2-y-o races scheduled for Monday.

Diomed Spirit (CHARM SPIRIT) a strongly-supported 11/10f (from 13/8) who once he had some clear air had no trouble in rewarding his supporters with a comfortable win.

Lingfield  2.28

There is nothing of interest to me in this race.

Windsor  5.40

Boom Boom Pow (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-sister to Speed Vision (HELMET) a useful Hong Kong based sprint handicapper.

Regal Glory (COTAI GLORY) - half-sister to Worlds His Oyster (PIVOTAL) who was a useful mile handicapper.

Regal Glory was a non-runner. Boom Boom Pow went off the well-supported 7/4  2nd. fav. she had every chance entering the final furlong but she had to settle for second half-a-length behind the favourite Tagline (FSS HAVANA GREY).

Pontefract. 6.00

Carmentis (KODIAC) - she didn't show a lot of ability when a well-beaten fourth on debut at Carlisle but she is a half-sister to Arnold Lane (FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND), the winner of a Group 3 6.5f. race in Germany and a smart 7f. handicapper.

Double O (FSS KESSAAR) - a half-sister to Edward Cornelius (BUNGLE INTHEJUNGLE) who is a useful sprint handicapper who ran second in a Class 2 Conditions race at Hamilton early last month. Double O has run with credit in both her races and deserves to get her head in front.

Consistency was rewarded with Double O forging clear inside the final furlong. Carmentis raced prominently until weakening 2 out. Marine Lake (OASIS DREAM) who finished fourth was making ground late on and might be the type to watch for in nurseries.

Saturday  June 4

An early look at Sunday's 2-y-o races. Nothing to get too excited about once again.

Goodwood 2.05

Unlimited Data (FSS TASLEET) - a half-brother to Data Protection (FOXWEDGE), a useful 10f. handicapper, a winner of 9 races including one Class 2 handicap at Newmarket last year. This 2-y-o is with the same trainer as his half-sibling but was very green on debut at Nottingham last month, slowly away and racing keenly. Should have come on for that run but will have need to have done.

Unlimited Data, still very green finished a very distant third to the 6/4f. Flag Flying (STARSPANGLEDBANNER), the winner showed a nice turn of foot to go clear in the final furlong.

Listowel 1.55

Congo River (FSS MENDELSSOHN) - a half-brother to Jo Jo Air (SCAT DADDY), a useful American sprinter. Congo River made a nice debut when a half-length second to Hellsing at the Curragh last month.

Ti Sento (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) - a half-brother to Stake Acclaim (ACCLAMATION) a very smart sprint handicapper. Ti Sento showed little on debut at Navan.

Vanguard Star (STARSPANGLEDBANNER) - a half-brother to King's Field (KODIAC) a smart Irish mile handicapper.

I don't think I'm brazen enough to claim a 100/1 winner but Ti Sento did win at 100/1 and quite impressively at that, raced just off the pace until coming wide around the turn and running on well for a convincing win, quite some improvement from his first run. Congo River ran a strange race, seemed to hit a flat spot over a furlong but coming again late on to sneak third place.

Musselburgh 3.45

Finn's Charm (KINGMAN) - a half-brother to Charming Thought (OASIS DREAM), who was a very smart 2-y-o who won the Group 1 Middle Park over 6f. in 2014. Finn's Charm made a satisfactory debut when third at Yarmouth last moth.

Finn's Charm was backed into 4/11 and won in the style of a red hot favourite, making all and going further away the further they went. The final winning distance 8.5 lengths.

Friday    June 3

It's Derby Day on Saturday but the 2-y-o races spread over the country are, I'm afraid, rather mediocre.

Listowel 1.05

Bit of a struggle to find anything that excites but two tentative suggestions from among the un-exposed runners.

Twenty To Three (FSS KESSAAR) - an already gelded half-brother to Miss Puddles (CANFORD CLIFFS) the winner of a 5f. Class 4 Auction Stakes at Chester.

Ard Mhacha (THE GURKHA) - beaten a long way on debut at Tipperary earlier this week (quick return?) is an already gelded half-brother to Rose Bonheur (DANEHILL DANCER) a Group 3/Listed Irish sprinter.

Twenty To Three raced prominently and led into the straight but soon faded. Cash Or Crypto (FASCINATING ROCK) was a comfortable winner. Reckoning Force (AIR FORCE BLUE) in third was making good headway close home.

Doncaster 1.56

A Taste Of Honey (FSS HARRY ANGEL) - a half-sister to Thammin (DARK ANGEL) who won a Class 4 handicap at Chelmsford before going to be trained in the Middle-East and winning a Listed event at Jebel Ali over 5f.

Granny B (ACCLAMATION) - a half-sister to Domfront (ROYAL APPLAUSE), a useful French miler.

Ibiza Love (FSS U.S. NAVY FLAG) - a half-sister to Pleasant Surprise (MASTERCRAFTSMAN) who ran second in a 12f. Group 3 at Newmarket. Ibiza Love ran third at this course on debut but the winner of that race rather let the form down on her next outing in a hot race at Beverley.

Ibiza Love made all but had to be ridden out to resist the challenges of Taste Of Honey, who ran in snatches and American Belle (STARSPANGLEDBANNER) who made a promising debut.

Musselburgh 2.11

Explicit (FSS EXPERT EYE) - hardly un-exposed having already had three runs but dropped into a seller here, he is a half-brother to Kindred Spirit (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) a useful French 6-7f. horse.

Explicit was always prominent but had to be hard ridden to hold off the strong late challenge of Cuban Rock (FSS HAVANA GREY).

Chepstow 6.35

Mintana (FSS HAVANA GREY) - a half-sister to Kick On Kick On (SWISS SPIRIT), a useful 5f. handicapper who was able to win on his racecourse debut.

Mintana was always outpaced and finished well last. An easy victory for Union Court (FSS HAVANA GREY) , made virtually all and never challenged.

Lingfield 7.15

Dragon Glory (COTAI GLORY) - made an encouraging debut when second to the rather wayward 1/3 favourite, Believing, at Wolverhampton. Seb Sanders on Sky suggested that she should have been given the race after being bumped. Anyhow, she is a half-sister to Shepherds Way (DARK ANGEL), the winner of a Class 2 6f. handicap at York last year

Dragon Glory broke very quickly and was still in front entering the final furlong but was then swallowed by a wall of closers, eventually finishing fourth . Revisit (INVINCIBLE SPIRIT) took the honours by a length from Kimnkate (HAVANA GOLD), who was making her debut, with Pending Appeal (LAWMAN) a short head further back.

Thursday  June 2

The first day of the Derby meeting at Epsom but a quiet day for me with very little in the way of interesting un-exposed 2-y-os.

Epsom  2.00

A number of these are quite exposed and those that are not do not appeal from the sire point of view. It will be interesting to see if our old friend Legend Of Xanadu can repeat his runaway victory at Redcar last time.

Well, well, Legend Of Xanadu, who in a wide-open market was backed into 4/1 jt. fav.. didn't let his supporters down. By no means the quickest away but came with a strong run down the centre of the course and always looked like winning.

Catterick 1.44

New Hope Bullet (NEW BAY) made a promising debut at Newmarket but I was rather disappointed with her run next time at Bath. Even though she managed to hold on to second place I was expecting a better run from her.

New Hope Bullet (NEW BAY) redeemed herself with quite a hard fought victory. Don't think was much of a race.

Bath  6.55

Only four runners and only one that I think may be of interest. Tabsheer (FSS TASLEET), a half-brother to Tanfantic (GUITAFAN) who managed a fourth place in a 2-y-o Listed event over 5f. at Sandown and was forward enough to win on his 2-y-o debut.

Tabsheer ran OK until weakening two out and finished last, The race was won by Redemption Time (FSS HARRY ANGEL) who made all.

Wednesday June 1

A look at Thursday's races, two of them with some interesting runners, the other two - meh!

Redcar 3.37

Claretino (FSS TASLEET) - who is making her debut is a half-sister to Meliora (STARSPANGLEDBANNER) a winner in 10f. Listed company in France.

Georgiava (FSS HAVANA GREY) - third but well-beaten on debut at Ayr, is a half-sister to Wahoo (SIMULATION) a useful sprint handicapper.

Majil (MEHMAS) - who has shown little ability in her two runs, is a half-sister to Spycatcher (VADAMOS), who as a 4-y-o won a 6f. Listed race on Lingfield's Polytrack.

Edgar Linton (MEHMAS) made all to win comfortably. A very nice debut by Claretino, finishing third after being prominent throughout and just missing out on second place close home.

Leopardstown 5.05 (much the most interesting juvenile race today)

Unless (FSS JUSTIFY) - is the first foal produced by Clemmie (GALILEO), the winner of the 2-y-o Group 1 Cheveley Park at Newmarket in 2018.

Thornbrook (FSS SAXON WARRIOR) - making her debut is a half-sister to Circuit Stellar (MEHMAS) the winner of an 8f. Listed race at this course.

Madly Truly (FSS CRACKSMAN) - a half-sister to Fearby (ONE COOL CAT) who won the 5f. Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown as a 2-y-o last year.

La Dolce Vita (CARAVAGGIO) - has shown fair form in her two outings in what look hot races, is a half-sister to Emphatic Answer (NO NAY NEVER) who came second to Pearls Galore in an 8f. Group 2 at the Curragh last month.

With Thornbrook and La Dolce Vita coming out  of the race took quite a bit of interest away from the race. Perhaps because of that the pace seemed rather pedestrian, which meant it developed into a bit of a sprint, which appeared to favour Sheyya (STARSPANGLEDBANNER) rather than the favourite, Unless.

I can't find anything of interest in the races at Hamilton and Chelmsford.
